1. It might be useful to start this activity by looking at how
shadows are made using a torch in a darkened classroom so that the children
understand that the direction of the shadow is dependent on the direction of the
light source. An alternative to shadow sticks which is perhaps easier to organise is simply to draw around the shadows of one or two children. Draw around their feet so that when you return in a few hours time they will be able to return exactly to their original spot and see how their shadows have moved. |
