Knowledge and Understanding

Pupils can:

  • identify mouth, gullet, stomach, intestines, liver, anus on a diagram

Pupils know:

  • the digestive tube is a hollow tube from mouth to anus

  • teeth break up food into small pieces

  • food is broken up into smaller pieces by substances produced in the stomach and intestines

  • the  pieces of food are so small that they pass through the intestine into the blood

  • the blood carries food around the body

  • the waste is left in the intestines and removed from the body

  • identify and select appropriate sources of information (level D)

Carrying out Task

Pupils should:

  • use appropriate equipment and techniques to collect information (level D)

Reviewing and Reporting on Task

  • give an illustrated report (level D)

  • taking responsibility for their own health and safety
