MIND
MAPPING
A mind map is a personal
visual representation of knowledge and/or skills and links.
It uses the imagination to
help embed ideas in the long term memory and for some learners is a more
powerful method of remembering and understanding than more logical layouts of
information.
It is constructed by
starting in the centre of a page, writing a central word and/or illustrating it.
From this, coloured branching lines are drawn connecting topic headings to the
central image. Information is added and joined by drawing smaller branches on to
the structure rather like a tree. Ideas and thoughts can be linked between
branches by using arrows.
