USING CARTOONS
Cartoons are a visual
representation of scientific ideas. A cartoon can be used to express different
views about what is happening. As the ideas are expressed by characters, pupils
can identify with a particular character’s ideas thus removing any inhibitions
they may feel about giving their own opinion.
Cartoons, either teacher
devised or commercially produced, can be used as a :-
-
starting point for an
investigation
-
summary or revision
of a topic
-
means of assessing
understanding
-
means of promoting
discussion
-
way of eliciting
pupil misconceptions
-
way of promoting
metacognition
-
form of homework
A reference source for using cartoons is :-
