INTRODUCTION

In order to develop understanding, it is first necessary to elicit prior knowledge and possible misconceptions. This can be done by using a variety of formative assessment techniques. To ensure that understanding can be developed, pupils must be actively engaged in their own learning. It is important to ensure that all pupils are involved.

The following approaches are outlined :
