PERTH AND KINROSS
SCIENCE PROGRAMMES
All Perth and Kinross
schools, both primary and secondary are following the ISE 5-14 guidelines.
The primary schools were
given the Renfrewshire materials as a resource and the secondary schools were
provided with the new Starting Science package.
Perth and Kinross has many
single, two and three teacher schools. These schools are following the Highland
adaptation of the Renfrewshire materials to suit their school size.
In addition the primary
schools were given a box of resources for each stage. These boxes were filled
with resources from the Renfrewshire equipment lists. The primaries were also
given the Daydream software, to help deliver this course.
The secondaries were given
class sets of Starting Science Books 1 and 2, plus the accompanying teacher’s
guides which contain worksheets, homework activities, tests and teachers’ notes.
The secondary schools were
also supplied with 20 new purpose-built circuit boards and the complete set of
Multi Media Science 11-14.
Both the primary and
secondary programmes are supported by in-class, in-school, and central training.
A seconded Science
Development Officer provides support, training and advice.
The ‘Let’s Think through
Science’ Programme is being piloted in six primaries within the local authority,
with a view to being implemented authority-wide. |
