Log-on details

he home page of the ISE 5-14 site is at:

http://www.ise5-14.org.uk/Prim3/head2.htm

There is no Member's area as such on the ISE 5-14 website. However, you will be asked for a username and password when accessing restricted areas of the website e.g. the Planning Spreadsheet on the Home Page. You could quite easily go to many parts of the site without needing to enter a username and password. Therefore go to the Home Page and click on the graphic for the Planning Spreadsheet (a file which resides in the restricted area). A log-on box should appear with either two or three fields (see below). Click the wee box to remember the password. When you visit any other restricted areas on the ISE 5-14 website you will then enter these seamlessly.

The logon window you get depends on the Operating System you are using - Windows XP is different to Windows 9x and 2000 etc. If you have forgotten you username and password as a registered user then e-mail me at SSERC.

Log-on window with two fields :-

username  (as advised by e-mail to a registered user, remember to use upper and lower case as advised)
password  (as advised by e-mail to a registered user, type the letters carefully as advised)

If the Username and Password don't appear to work, try :-

www\username  (i.e. precede the username as advised by e-mail to a registered user with 'www\')
password  (as advised by e-mail to a registered user)

Or if the log-on window with three fields :-

username   (as advised by e-mail to a registered user)

password   (as advised by e-mail to a registered user)
Domain - www

If a "Not Authorized to View" page appears without giving a logon prompt it will likely be a caching problem on your PC or heavy handed filtering by your Authority which will not accept a connection to our server. Please let us and your school/Authority ICT people that you have difficulties accessing the ISE 5-14 website.

Please check you use upper and lower case as required in the Username.

ABOUT THE ISE 5-14 WEBSITE

In the Framework for Planning the Target Groups 1 to 33 now contain useful info & links in Development of Target, Resources, Equipment & Teacher's Notes. In others you'll see that well-worn phrase "under development". Codification of targets is as follows - ES - Earth & Space, EF - Energy & Forces and LT - Living Things & the Processes of Life. First number is the strand & the second is the target. All the information and material from the National Launch and update CD for the ISE 5-14 Exemplar Materials have been posted in the relevant "resources" area of the Target Menus as well as on column BH of the Planning Spreadsheet.

We provide interactive access to all the attainment targets in Environmental Studies, and not just Science. Targets in science are directly cross-referenced to other components of Environmental Studies in the relevant areas of the Target Menus i.e. Teacher's Notes, Resources etc. The wider relevance of what are ostensibly Science activities will therefore become more transparent (see the Planning Spreadsheet on the Home Page). The Renfrewshire Science Pack has a separate worksheet tab at the bottom of the Planning Spreadsheet. This allows you to link to the parallel universe which is the Renfrewshire Science Pack Framework for Planning and the Target Groups and Menus therein. We also provide comprehensive details of how to implement the investigative approach in science teaching.

If you have any problems, have any comments to make, come across duff links or would like us to concentrate on the development of any particular Group then please drop us an E-mail. Any contributions in the areas of investigations and formative assessment would be most welcome.

Unfortunately the Forums had to be abandoned because of technical difficulties and lack of use. You can still Have your say! via e-mail and I'll post your comments/questions etc. on a dedicated page. If you want to remain anon. I can attach "name & address supplied".

Cheers,

Ian
