Group 9 exemplar Earth & Space  - Water (Word)

1. The children may be familiar with things such as coffee, hot chocolate and sweets which dissolve in their mouths and a simple demonstration with water and sugar can clear any confusion.

When choosing things to dissolve, try to avoid mixtures such as soil, soup mix etc., because some parts of the mixture will dissolve and some won’t. Good things to use to dissolve are glucose powder and bath crystals. Non-dissolvers include flour, rice and tea. Plastic cups and coffee stirrers will make good containers for this investigation.
