Strands & Targets in Guidelines

This is the Target Group Menu for a group of targets from the Science Framework for Planning
Group 22 - Model of matter
This way for Group 23 - Acids & Metals

Matter is the stuff around you. What is matter made of? How do we know there are atoms, compounds and molecules in solids, liquids & gases? What is the Water Cycle and why is it important to life on Earth?
Big Idea
- What are we doing to the Earth and how can we prevent permanent damage?

Science - Interactive Guidelines Curriculum for Excellence - draft outcomes
CfE (Materials - Elements) (Level Third) - SCN 326Y - I have taken part in collaborative research and investigations on some of the 92 naturally occurring elements. I have contributed to a presentation which demonstrates understanding of their physical properties, similarities, diversity and uses.
CfE (Planet Earth - Climate & Earth Science) (Level Third) - SCN 303C - I have carried out experiments to develop my knowledge of the gases of the air. I can give simple explanations of some of the chemical processes which contribute to climate change and can discuss the consequences of atmospheric change.
CfE (Planet Earth) (Level Second) - SCN 203A - I can give a presentation to demonstrate my understanding of the importance of the water cycle in nature.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Third) - SCN 332BB - Through research and group discussion, I have contributed to an evaluation of a media item with regard to its scientific content.

CfE (Planet Earth - Climate & Earth Science) (Level Fourth) - SCN 409C Bio/Chem - I have researched a new development in science and can show how its current or future application might impact on modern life.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Fourth) - SCN 443BB ALL - I have researched a new development in science and can show how its current or future application might impact on modern life.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Fourth) - SCN 444BB ALL - Having selected a scientific theme of topical interest, I can critically analyse the issues, and use relevant information to develop an informed argument.
